New House Blog: Episode CCII - So Many Switches!

Welcome again to the New House Blog.  As you can see by the Episode number, we will be talking about our Texas House in this Episode.  Please recall that we introduced our Texas House in the previous Episode, and we gave a lot of general information about the house and surrounding area.  In this Episode we will take a more detailed look at the interior.

Door Selfie

Let's start at the front door with this door selfie.  As you can see, it's quite a nice front door, flanked by windows on three sides.  Note also the fancy light sconces and ornamental plant.

Beds And Baths

We start our interior investigation with this bedroom, which will be herein referred to as Bedroom 1.  Note the abundance of electrical outlets, and the light switch by the door.

Here you can see into Bedroom 1's bathroom, and the bathroom's large closet.  Hidden in the shadows is a bank of three light switches.  Not shown in this view is the bathroom's smaller linen closet.

This is the shower curtain we installed in this bathroom.

We now move upstairs to the Large Bedroom, which the previous owners had set up as a gaming room (no, not that kind of gaming!).

Possibilities that we are looking into include using this room as a music room, and/or a workout room.  Or we could potentially turn it into a highly advanced tactical cat-training area.

This is the reverse view.  Note the light switch and thermostat.

This is looking down from the Big Bedroom onto our driveway.  That is a rental truck, and not my personal vehicle.

This is the Middle Bedroom, also on the 2nd floor.
Note the smoke detector and two light switches.  One controls the lights, the other the fan.

This is the Corner Bedroom in the upstairs area.  It has quite the view.
Note the thermostat and light switches.  You can also see the bathroom that connects the Middle Bedroom and the Corner Bedroom.

This is the connecting bathroom.  Not pictured is the full tub and shower.  Also not pictured are some of the light switches.

And now we move downstairs to the first floor Master Bedroom.
Down we go!

The Master Bedroom.

Note the thermostat by the door.
This is the view looking into our back yard from the Master Bedroom.

From the Master Bedroom we move into the Master Bath Suite.

To the left, is the sauna tub.  Past the sauna tub on the left is the second of two sinks.  To the immediate right, just barely in the frame, is the door to the smaller closet.  Past the smaller closet is the walk-in shower complex.  Past the shower complex is the door to the commode cove.  The far doorway leads to the gigantic Master Closet Complex.  This closet is large enough to be a full-size bedroom.  Note the light switches.

The reverse angle.  Here you can see the other sink area, and on the left, near the door to the smaller closet, is another bank of light switches.

There are no light switches inside the shower complex.

Here we are in the master closet complex.
We are still inside the master closet complex.

The smallest bathroom in the house is this commode cave, also known as the 1/2 Bath.  It is across the hall from Bedroom 1.

Reading Room

Next to the 1/2 Bath is a very sunny, green room with glass doors, its own closet, thermostat, and more light switches.  It will potentially be used as a reading room.

Kitchen and Dining Areas

Now  we come to the kitchen and dining areas.

This is the view coming from the Master Bedroom.  How many light switches can you see in this photo?

Look at all of that lovely cabinet space.
The fridge area is seems to be missing something....

Ah.  That's much better.

This is the cavernous pantry next to the fridge.  It has its own light switch.

Of course, every pantry should be well-stocked.

The gas stovetop, with oven below (not pictured), and hood above.
All of the burners are in working order.

Looking toward the kitchen sink we see more light switches.  One of them controls the disposal.  Can you guess which one?

This is what would probably be called the wet bar.  Note the wine bottle rack.  We don't know what we're going to use the rack for, yet.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me which Bible translation is on the counter.

This is the dining area.  We don't currently have a dining room, or a dining room table, so we don't know just what we will do with this space.  Maybe another cat-training area?  Note the thermostat, and the light switches in the background.

Entryway And Fireplace

This view toward the entryway really shows off the polished concrete floor.  The previous owners were quite proud of the floor, and the seemed to derive great enjoyment from same.

You can also see the fancy, high-tech, zoned, programmable, wifi-capable temperature control unit.  How many light switches do you see?

Behold!  The fireplace!  Yes, folks, we've got us a real wood-burning fireplace.  There is a gas line in-place, so it could be converted to gas-burning, but we have no plans for such, as we enjoy a good wood-fire.

Laundry Facilities

Our last stop on the interior tour is the laundry facilities.

As with the fridge area, something seems to be missing...

The hookups look to be set up for electrical appliances (not gas), and I don't know where the drier exhaust vent exits the house.
Note the different floor color, floor drain, sink, mystery door, and light switch.  What's behind the mystery door?  That answer will have to wait until the next Texas House Episode.

Closing Pictures

And now for a few random closing pictures.

Bonus points to anyone who can tell me what DVD's those are on the shelf.

How could we not include a photo from the local Bucc-ee's?

So long for now,
